So I have been busy working over the weekend as roadie in Perth as a freelance contractor for a few preferred clients and it came to me that even though rock and roll is a great path for a roadie it is not the only path. There are so many events happening in Perth and all over the world and many of them are not just concerts. People love being out and about and keeping busy so city councils and businesses alike are organizing free and paid events all over the place for us to participate in.The best bit about these events are that roadies like me get the call to do the job.

I did many years working in the rock and roll and festival scene and as rewarding and exciting as it was the days are long and the body eventually wants to take it a bit easier. Enter to the stage corporate events, community events, product launches, sporting events, comedy, theater and art festivals. These events range in size and complexity but in general they are lower stress and have a more relaxed bump in and bump out schedule. The best bit is you learn things and see things that you would otherwise not be exposed too.
I have participated in shows in airplane hangers, war museums and shopping centers. I have learnt about wool, mining, conflict resolution, business and aboriginal culture. And much much more. Even on the weekend just gone I was working in the government house ballroom in Perth for the launch of China Construction Bank office, at a discovery evening for a free rollerskating rink in forest place and at the NAIDOC opening ceremony.
